Henrietta was carved out from a parcel of Pittsford land in 1818, and consisted almost exclusively of farmland and an agricultural economy, including a large Ellwanger and Barry nursery, through the early days of the 20th Century.
There was minimal commercial development there prior to the addition of a New York State Thruway exit in 1954 and the arrival of the Genesee Valley Regional Market shortly afterward.
